Mallacoota Community Update 03/06/20

I have had a great delivery of new warm handknitted beanies. Next Monday I’m putting them out at the school along with the shoes I have left and any students are welcome to grab a pair and a beanie for winter.
Eileen Buckland now has all of the quilts and is distributing them around town. Please contact her if you would like one.
A lot of people have been asking me about bridge rebuilding along the tracks in the National Park. To give you an idea of the size of the task ahead for Vic Parks, Mallacoota alone has over 450 assets that need replacing. This includes; signs, jetties, bridges, drains, etc. All of these assets are insured but when you include all of Croajingolong it is an immense task that will probably require a project manager to handle. Our local rangers are flat out doing their best to get everything back up and open so we just need to be patient.
Last night the Recovery Committee met face to face for the first time. It was very productive and a media release will be coming out shortly to update everyone on how things are going.
